Preparing Your Trailer for Off-Season Storage
Have your summer travel plans come to a close? Is it time to start getting your RV ready for off-season storage? If so, there are several tasks that you will need to take care of before you bring it to Acceptable Storage. Follow the following steps to ensure you park your RV in the best condition possible!
– Take it for one last spin! Make sure that your trailer isn’t making any unusual sounds, or emitting any unfamiliar smells. Also, take a walk around the RV and make a note of any dings, scratches, or dents.
– Clean it up! Give your home on wheels a really good cleaning. Make sure to vacuum up carpets for food debris, clean out the cupboards, and leave surfaces as clean as possible. While you’re at it, take everything out that might get damaged by Ottawa’s cold winters.
– Remove the Battery, and keep it on a maintenance charger while your trailer is being stored.
– Disconnect the air conditioner, and clean out air filters. This will save you from cleaning out the filters in the spring!
– Defrost, and clean out the fridge. There is nothing worse than opening the fridge to see mouldy food in your RV! So before you lock the door and walk away make sure that there’s nothing hiding in the crisper! Defrosting it will also prevent harmful leaks.
– Change the fuel and oil filter, fill up the tank and add fuel stabilizer. If this is your first year with your RV, you may want to get in touch with the manufacturer to ask for their recommendation on fuel stabilizer levels.
– Close the windows and blinds to prevent the sun from fading any visible upholstery, carpet, or leather.
– Remove the dry cell batteries from all the clocks, flashlights, and other on board appliances.
– And lastly, cover the tires with tarps. You may also decide to cover the entire RV with a breathable tarp to protect it from the elements!

Dear Travel-Mor Clients,
Please note that any trailer/RV that is dropped off for service work MUST BE EMPTIED of all personal belongings. This includes floor areas, or any specific areas where we need to complete work (for example: showers/tubs, cabinetry, outside compartments, under bed storage areas, etc.)
If these areas are filled with personal items, we will refuse to work on the trailer until it has been emptied.
