The Benefits Of Ottawa Heated Car Storage

Unlike regular storage units, climate controlled storage takes extra care into making sure that your vehicle is not affected by drastic shifts in humidity and temperature. These temperature swings are the biggest problem for vehicles because the metal material can start to rust. For the interior of the car, exposure to frequent humid can result in mold and mildew growth, which can smell up your vehicle and compromise the integrity of the interior materials (leather, cloth, glass, or other surfaces). Other benefits of storing your car in a climate controlled storage unit include:

  • Protection From Extreme Temperatures
  • Additional Defense Against Dust & Debris
  • Improved Air Quality
  • Added Peace Of Mind

Knowing that your car is safely stored and won't be exposed to the harsh elements will give you the peace of mind that your investment is safe. A heated or climate controlled storage unit for your vehicle will preserve both the exterior and interior of your car, leaving it in pristine condition for when you're ready to take it out for a drive. Store your vehicle safely with our heated car storage in Ottawa.

Frequently Asked Questions

When your car isn’t in use for a prolonged period of time, especially in the cold of winter, the battery can lose its charge. When you go to start the car again, it won’t be able to start. The battery will need to be recharged either through a jump or a battery tender before the car can be used again. Since giving a vehicle a jump requires another vehicle to be running, using a battery tender will save on fuel and provide a more cost-effective way of keeping your battery charged.
Unlike 12V batteries in combustible engine cars, electric car batteries lose their charge so slowly that they can go months without use. To maintain the battery cells while in storage, it is recommended to store the car with a battery level between 20% and 50%.
You should store your vehicle with a full tank of gas. If there is any empty space inside the gas tank, condensation will form on any part of the tank that is exposed to air. This can damage the seals in your gas tank, and cause rust inside the tank. These will lead to expensive problems to fix down the road.
When gasoline sits for an extended period of time, it will evaporate and cause a sticky resin to form on the inside of the tank. When you start to drive again, the resin will mix in with your gas and make its way through your engine which will cause damage to the engine over time.
It’s important to store a clean vehicle because dirt, bug splatters, bird droppings and any other things left on your vehicle for an extended period of time will damage the paint job on the vehicle and cause spots of discolouration when you take the car for its next wash.
