What better way to round out your summer than a visit to one of the world’s most delicious inventors of ice cream!? Make sure to stop in Montpelier, the state capital. This 1950’s feeling town will have you looking for the closest diner. From downtown Ottawa to Burlington, Vermont you should schedule about 4 leisurely hours, not including the border crossing.
Don’t think for a second that Mont Tremblant is just for the winter! Oh no, Mont Tremblant is a gorgeous resort village that leaves you feeling like you have stepped into a quaint European town. From downtown Ottawa, you can be having lunch on a patio in Mont Tremblant in just under two hours. Smith Falls, located an hour and half outside of Kingston, and just one hour from Ottawa is part of a UNESCO Rideau Heritage Route System. Smith Falls is widely considered to be the “heart of the Rideau Canal!” As such, this quaint town is full of historical landmarks, fantastic family restaurants, and scenic lookout points. To arrive in Smith Falls, you will drive past both Manotick and Merrickville, which are both fantastic destinations in their own right!
